Coors is harmful
October 23, 1990
I’m writing in response to what happened at the Student Association Mass Transit Board meeting Oct. 22.
I’m trying to get Coors out of the university because they are destroying the environment.
The Colorado Health Department has cited Coors four times for water pollution, once in 1985, once in 1986 and twice in 1990. There are many other such facts.
I presented my case against Coors at the meeting. I was followed by Charles Bennet and Todd Zimmerman who are representives from Coors.
I am very thankful that they had the desire to come and hear what I had to say and answer questions. They both will be valuable resources to add information to my case.
I feel very strongly about Coors. Sen. Harry Treft said we should not judge the company by what the family has done. I strongly disagree.
The family is the corporation. When you buy a product, you are endorsing everything the company stands for and does. In the case of Coors, it’s saying it is all right to pollute the water.
I’m not a misplaced hippie, just a concerned student. I am asking people to take a stand and care about Mother Earth. If we don’t take care of our Mother, she won’t be able to take care of us.
