NIU staff members win faculty awards

Four NIU supportive professional staff members have received faculty development awards totaling $3,000.

The staff members are Deborah Booth, a coordinator in external programming; Sara Susamo, University Health Services medical staff chief; Marybeth Koos, art school slide curator and Alan Farber, career services in counseling and student development coordinator.

Booth will receive marketing training through seminars and a Marketing Federation clinic, which will help her to develop media to promote NIU courses and programs.

Susamo will take part in administrative training sponsored by the American College of Physician Executives, which provides expertise in clinical and business areas.

Koos will attend an international Visual Resources Association conference to obtain the latest information on scholarship and technology related to art history and slide curatorship. Part of the conference will deal with a universal system for cataloging slides.

Farber will participate in a conference titled “Frontiers of Assessment.” Farber’s experiences at the conference will be useful in developing a career resource center in NIU’s planned student life building.

The winners were chosen by a committee representing departments that employ several supportive professional staff. The awards support professional growth to enhance teaching, research and service.
