‘Top notch’ care
September 9, 1990
We never anticipate emergencies. They always seem to happen to others, but never to ourselves.
Last week, I found that I too was vulnerable. One morning, I was suffering from a bad case of the flu, thinking it was only a cold.
After running, I was extremely out of breath due to the congestion. I became severely dehydrated and was on the verge of hyperventilating. After a bicycle ride to the health center I passed out in their lobby while trying to fill out the entrance form.
Their quick actions at the health center and in transfering me to the emergency room at Kishwaukee Community Hospital without a doubt were responsible for my quick recovery and for very possibly saving my life.
Since so many wonderful people helped me at Health Services, in the ambulance crew and in Emergency at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, I feel it unfair to name only those people that I can remember.
Instead, I’d like to thank you all and bring it to the attention of the NIU and DeKalb County Communities that they have a top notch, professional community of health care workers.
