La Tourette on radio

NIU President John La Tourette will be a guest on Milton Rosenberg’s radio talk show Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 p.m. on AM 720.
Other guests will be Lake Forest College President Eugene Hotchkiss and Marquette University President Albert De Ulio. The three will discuss the current and future state of higher education.
Volunteer orientation
“The Hospice Way Volunteer Orientation” will begin Sept. 17 and will continue for nine weeks. Persons interested in volunteering at the DeKalb County Hospice must attend the 27-hour orientation program, but missed sessions can be made up.
The program will include the history and philosophy of Hospice, coping with death and grief, and how to care for the dying person. The deadline for registration is Sept. 14. For more information, call 756-3000.
New interim director
A former Chicago Public Library official and past president of the American Library Association has been named NIU’s university libraries interim director.
Peggy Sullivan, dean of the College of Professional Studies and a professor of library and information studies, was appointed to the position for two years. She will supervise a staff of about 120 persons and oversee a budget of more than $5 million.
