Alfred Tatum obviously has no clue as to how important an informed public is here at Northern. Beth Behland did an excellent job of investigative reporting in her series of articles on the Omega Psi Phi credit abuse scam.

Mr. Tatum’s Sept. 12 editorial was a thinly veiled cry of racism. Students have every right to see how their tuition money is wasted on such illegal escapades.

I am positive that if any other fraternity committed the same offense, the story would be covered in just as much detail. In fact, I don’t believe Ms. Behland could have reported the story successfully without using all the details she uncovered. Furthermore, the tone of the story was objective; not “a non-controlled attack.”

Remember the little boy who cried wolf? Perhaps Mr. Tatum should save his cries of racism for the real discriminatory issues here at Northern.
