Companies ignore people

The oil companies seem to be making a killing, possibly before they have to.

Kuwait has imposed an oil embargo on Iraq for invading its land. The rest of the world seems to be following in its footsteps. The result: gas prices skyrocket.

The oil companies increase rates on gas that did not cost them any more than it used to in order to pay for the oil that will cost more in the future due to the Iraqi situatation.

Oil companies are thinking ahead. Maybe too far ahead. Raising the prices now is a sure way to protect themselves from problems caused by the Middle East and if everything ends peacefully they have a thicker wallet than before.

The companies seem to have control over the public so that they will end up with the most money through the littlest effort and pain.

The reality of the matter is that the prices are going to increase despite complaints by a bunch of poor college students. However, there is no reason for increasing prices of gas before absolutely necessary. Unless of course greed is the main factor behind the companies’ momentum.

America cannot do without gasoline. Millions of people will not walk 20 or more miles to work because gas costs too much.

There was a time when gasoline cost less than a dollar. It’s a vicious increasing cycle, but it doesn’t need help from the oil companies.
