Trust important
April 3, 1990
I just thought I would sit down and tell NIU students what I have been hearing and thinking. I have been examining the elections for Student Association President very carefully and cautiously.
There are many important things the SA does, including allocating over $600,000 of our student fees, trying to keep tuition down, and keeping our campus safe for everyone. It is for these reasons why I feel this election is important and why I have asked many questions about both candidates for president, Rob McCormack and John Fallon.
I have come to one clear cut conclusion—JOHN FALLON would make an awful SA President. He is exactly what the students and SA DON’T need.
John said he wanted to keep the campaign clean. What a JOKE! He can’t keep his own hands clean, let alone the election. He just got arrested two weeks before the election for allegedly entering and remaining in a bar as a minor. I or my friends have seen him in bars many times before this. I guess his luck finally ran out.
According to the March 21 Star, John made his announcement to run for president just a few hours after he was told he could by the elections commissioner, normally the announcement isn’t made until the petitions to run are handed in.
He also just happened to have his speech made, room reserved for his press conference, and signs made. ISN’T THAT WEIRD? Sounds a little fishy to me. I think it stinks real bad. The list of John’s dirty tricks goes on and on. Most of his fellow senators agree, I am sure.
I heard many guys in his own fraternity won’t vote for him because they know what he is really like. They don’t trust him or believe in him. How can anyone then?
I have been told that John switches sides on the same issue, depending which way the momentum is going (i.e. Farrakhan’s Speech/debate). This means John is a follower, NOT a leader. Do you want Fallon to be your president?
I have also heard that most of Fallon’s ideas come from last year’s losing presidential candidate Phill Buoscio. If I wanted Phill’s ideas I would vote for Phill, not John. Don’t make your vote for Fallon because he has more signs up. I want a REAL leader for the SA. I want someone who speaks with his own ideas and can stand on their own two feet.
THE NIU STUDENT ASSOCIATION NEEDS SOMEONE WHO WILL REFORM IT. I want a person who keeps a clean campaign and will do a lot for me, including keeping tuition down and reforming the SA (The SA sure needs reform).
IN MY EYES, ROB McCORMACK IS THE ONLY CHOICE FOR SA PRESIDENT. Rob, you have my vote and that of 99 percent of my friends. GOOD LUCK!
