Facts, logic lost
April 10, 1990
I was thoroughly enraged by Brian Subatich’s April 5 letter. It grossly lacked facts and was entirely devoid of logic. But to those of us that know Brian it is no shock.
Brian tried to sound authoritative on the College Republicans and Young Democrats. Since he has not attended meetings of either group this year or last, his comments are worthless. If Brian wants to throw around attendance figures of meetings he should at least be there to verify his mistaken assumptions.
Brian also made the point that two otherwise politically opposed groups endorsed the same candidate, and questioned the wisdom of that.
I believe when a candidate stands out enough to get the endorsement of normally opposed groups, it reflects the quality of the candidate, and Rob McCormack is worthy of both endorsements.
Brian asked what I feel is the bonehead queston of the year, when he asked if the CRs or YDs distributed surveys or held a vote of intent. This demonstrates his complete lack of understanding about the whole endorsement process.
The CRs represent the opinion of CRs and would NEVER presume that the whole campus agrees with all we do or say. We do not endorse on the criteria of who might be more popular at the time, we endorse the most qualified person.
The proper time for a survey would have been before Brian presumed that the entire student body wanted to insult the DeKalb City Council. My suggestion to Brian is to spend less time on groundless reflections on the actions of others and more time on monitoring his OWN actions.
