As I was glancing through Police Beat on March 30 I came across a report that a fellow student was arrested for skateboarding on the sidewalk. No, he did not get a warning but is now scheduled to appear in court as the article stated.

Just goes to show that the DeKalb Police Department has an odd quota system to fill. All I can say is, as quoted by the brilliant Kevin Matthews of the Loop, “Is it wrong for a man to want to skateboard on the sidewalk? I think not, counselor!”

Plus the fact that the sidewalks are not that incredibly crowded with pedestrians whose lives would be endangered by the crippling effect of a skateboard encounter.

Basically, I just want to say why bother, but this is DeKalb. Go figure.
