Live with paper

In response to the April 19 article “Woman’s Alliance Protests Newspaper”: I feel that this is the most ridiculous article I’ve ever read.

Those women holding up the “stop sexism” signs are only jealous of the women in the DeKalb Nite Weekly. How can a paper that is trying to help women get a start in modeling be considered sexist? I’ve never once read anything in the DeKalb Nite Weekly that gave any indication of sexism.

So Miss Karen Van Fossan, you must think that the Miss America Pageant is sexist as well because beautiful women are shown wearing swimming suits. Van Fossan stated “it would be fantastic if the women stopped posing.”

In my opinion, Van Fossan is either jealous or feels threatened by women displaying their bodies. If a woman has a desirable body and wants to begin a modeling career, then why should it be wrong for her to pose for a paper that will give her some good exposure?

Maybe Miss Van Fossan should visit a local magazine stand and look at some of the magazines such as “Swimwear,” “Muscle & Fitness,” or “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” and see some of the pictures of women in their bikinis. She could then stand outside the door of the publishers with signs that say “STOP PORNOGRAPHY AND SEXISM IN MAGAZINES.”

I’m afraid to say that in this country if a woman has a “hot bod,” she’s going to show it to the public whether it be on television, magazines, newspapers, billboards, movies, videos, and beaches. So my advice is stop wasting your time and energy and learn to live with it!
