I would like to inform you of something very important. This week (April 8-14) is National Medical Laboratory Week. Few people are aware of this, so I would like to explain exactly what it means.

First of all, medical technology is a part of clinical laboratory medicine. The people in this field play a big part in providing the public with high quality health care services.

Most medical technologists work in hospital and other reference laboratories testing and analyzing specimens from patients. Medical technologists are the laboratory professionals who examine our blood samples for signs of disease. It is their work that provides the data the doctor uses in making a diagnosis.

Medical Technology Week is meant to remind all of us of the importance of medical technology. Hopefully, the recognition of this field will give everyone increased respect for medical technologists and for their very important work.
