Lacrosse success hindered by losses

Members of the NIU lacrosse club didn’t fare well last week dropping both of their matches—one to the Lake Forest Club and the other to the Lakeshore Club.

In a close contest with Lakeshore, the Huskies made a run late in the game. However, Lakeshore got the best of NIU and downed the Huskies 11-7. Matt Besler led the team with four goals, while Jim Marvin knocked in three.

Lakeshore, a club consisting of many NIU alumni, was led by former Huskie attackman John Hughes. The former Huskie netted five goals.

Against Lake Forest, NIU suffered a 16-6 beating to an experienced team. Besler led the Huskies with three goals, while Marvin hit the back of the net twice.

The NIU club takes the Easter weekend off, but returns to action Tuesday April 17 for a 3:30 p.m. match with Wheaton College. The Huskies then take on Lincoln Park Saturday April 21, at 2:00. Both contest will be played on the fields west of Stevenson Towers.
