Based on faith
April 29, 1990
Throughout the year I have read many articles and witnessed many events pertaining to the issue of abortion. In many of these instances the “pro-life” views were most strongly represented by individuals or groups of the Christian faith.
Unfortunately, because of their faith these people were often passed off as either stupid or as fanatics by a large portion of the “pro-choice” advocates.
I myself am a Christian and am alive in my faith, making no apologies for it. I feel it must be said that the God I worship is not a distant God, but instead a God that takes joy in his creation and is active and alive within it.
It is because of this knowledge that we hold life to be sacred and that I must NEVER agree to the idea or practice of abortion.
I ask that you read the following poem and perhaps know why the choice of life is the only acceptable one.
Deep into the womb
the seeds of life are sown.
Two separate halves with one purpose-
-to join.
In their union…
a miracle…
Life.
Intended as a Gift shared between man and wife,
yet received as a burden upon a youth…
still but a child herself.
The joys that should have been
turned to a painful loss of innocence.
Betrayed by a lie that this was Love.
Now another choice must be made.
Will she maintain the life
or slay the innocent one?
The scales are leveled
against her fears of the future.
Decision made…
and God sheds a tear.
