Now you know
April 17, 1990
This is in response to Adam Drendel’s letter referring to Martin Rochlin’s “Heterosexual Questionnaire.” Drendel accused Rochlin of attempting to justify homosexuality by attacking heterosexuality. Mr. Drendel found Mr. Rochlin’s questionnaire distorted, hostile, twisted, and insulting.
Mr. Drendel, you reacted exactly as you should have to the questionnaire, but you completely missed the point.
Yes the questionnaire is insulting. Now substitute the word “homosexual” for “heterosexual” and you get questions like, “Is it possible your homosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of members of the opposite sex?”, and, “How could the human race survive if everyone were homosexual like you?” Gays and lesbians face these kind of insulting questions and accusations each and every day.
Mr. Rochlin’s questonnaire gives heterosexuals a little taste of what it is like to be a homosexual living in a homophobic society. You’re damn right it’s insulting, Mr. Drendel. Now you know how it feels.
