Icemen primed for playoffs

The NIU Hockey Club had a successful past weekend by beating Bradley (6-5) on Friday night, then picking up a victory over Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday.

In their division, the Huskies finished with a 15-3 record, good for a second place finish. The past string of four wins places the club in good position for this weekend’s first round playoffs at Park Ridge’s Oakton Ice Arena, Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at either 2 p.m. or 4 p.m.

olf Pike led the offensive attack with eight goals, including a wrist shot from the top of the slot, which gave NIU the win on Saturday. Craig Boledovich led the defense in scoring and broke out of his slump by racking up three goals, and the winning shot on Friday.

The Huskie hockey club takes on the Blue Demons of DePaul (3rd place, 14-5) in the first round of the playoffs on Friday.
