Time to forget accidents

It’s time to quell all the intense concern over the recent accidents involving Huskie buses.

Traffic accidents are never a pleasant thing with which to deal, and it might sound kind of harsh to say that four accidents involving Huskie buses within one month should not draw much concern.

However, in this case, that is the case.

David Pack, Student Association Mass Transit Board adviser, agrees that bus accidents are always “unfortunate,” but added that they are not uncommon in winter weather.

And, as always in good old DeKalb, we haven’t exactly had your average winter weather. First the weather’s warm; then a blizzard nobody expected; one day some of it melts; by the same night the temperature drops, all the slush and puddles freeze and we have a big ice problem.

This isn’t exactly the type of weather you would want to be driving a bus around in, but you can’t just call all the buses back to the garage everytime someone sees a snowflake.

The most important part of a student’s life is getting to classes. Many students depend on the the Huskie Line to get them there. Without it, many of them would have marathon walks that they would have to completely structure their schedules around.

There were no trends in the accidents other than bad weather, so it’s time to be thankful that the accidents were not worse than they actually were.

Accidents are a fact of life. For this reason, the bus accidents should be written off.
