Hill earns endless accolades

When Whitney Young High School product E.C. Hill makes her way to NIU in the fall, she’ll be bringing along some mighty impressive credentials—like the Chicago Sun Times Player of the Year award.

Hill, tabbed by basketball experts around the country as the nation’s best player, signed with the NIU women’s basketball program a couple of months ago. The senior guard chose NIU after receiving letters from over 100 colleges.

“E. C. is a phenomenal player with a lot of potential. We’re very excited about her coming here,” said Huskie head coach Jane Albright. “This is a big honor, when you can get someone from a big city like Chicago. There are 50 states in the nation and she’s the best of all of them.”

Coaches and critics across the country agree that Hill is by far the best in the country.

Albright, who has been comparing Hill to players like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, switched her comparison this weekend to Louisiana State’s Chris Jackson.

Hill will bring her talent and personality to DeKalb next year. With the loss of three key seniors at the end of this season—Carol Owens, Tammy Hinchee and Kris Weis, the Huskies will welcome a player of Hill’s stature.

Hill will once again team-up with former Young star Cindy Conner who sat out her first year at NIU as a Prop. 48.
