Brady winner has family cult-joining, lying and stealing

By Lynn Rogers

Well, now that the “Bradys” pilot has aired on CBS, we can settle down and look forward to each Friday’s new episode. If the producers need any plot ideas, they should contact NIU student Lisa Leicht.

Leicht, a senior deaf education major from Elk Grove Village, was the winner of the first Brady Contest, announced last month. “I suppose the Bradys are popular because we grew up with them and related to their home lives, or at least we wished our lives were like theirs,” she explained.

So, grab your Kitty Carry-all and stop playing ball in the house (Mom always said….). Here we go:

Peter has joined a private investigation agency. He just got his first assignment to investigate an embezzlement scam. Little does he know that brother Greg is involved. Greg, recently gone bankrupt, has been sticking his hand in the company till.

Meanwhile, Marcia saves Cindy from joining a satanic cult. In investigating the cult, Marcia gets brainwashed into joining herself. She shaves her head, wears a sheet, and starts handing out daisies at the local airport. Wally, deeply distraught, loses his great job at the toy company that Mike got him over Christmas, moves in with Mom and Dad Brady, and falls in love with Alice. Cindy feels badly about Marcia joining the cult and becomes a nun, feeling that it’s all her fault.

Jan is following in her father’s footsteps a little too much. Donald Trump appears as himself in this episode. Mr. Trump is looking for someone to design him a very unique building for his next hotel. Jan finds out that, after entries from several prominant architects, Mr. Trump has weeded out his decision to just two architects—and she is one of them. Wanting to make sure she is the winner, Jan breaks into Mr. Trump’s office and rearranges some of her competition’s designs.

The next morning, discovering that some of the ideas of Jan’s competitors could be dangerous, Mr. Trump announces Jan the winner. Mike, (Jan’s competitor) upset that he lost, asks Mr. Trump what was wrong with his design. Comparing a copied version with Trump’s version, Mike realizes that somebody sabotaged him. P.I. Peter discovers that Jan is the culprit. Mike disowns Jan. “I never want to see you again,” he tells her.

At the same time, Peter finds that Greg is the embezzler. Not being able to admit that his brother and sister are criminals, Peter becomes addicted to drugs and nearly O.D.s when he is found by Bobby. Bobby is upset because he is alone with Peter on a desolate road where Peter had parked his car to “be alone.” Bobby becomes desparate and gets out of his wheelchair. “I’m walking!” Bobby picks up Peter and carries him to the nearest gas station where he calls for an ambulance.

Carol is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. “I’ve got to take care of my family,” she thinks to herself. Carol starts singing “We Are the World” and everybody starts to cry. Greg and Jan confess their crimes, Marcia leaves her cult, Cindy leaves her order with a very handsome priest, Peter checks into a drug rehabilitation program and Bobby devotes his life to helping the handicapped. All are happy again, except for Marcia, since Wally is still in love with Alice. The End.
