Noise problem
February 15, 1990
David Lasker (Feb. 12) complains about the disturbances caused by audience members at the CAB weekend films whose concept of enjoying a movie requires constant shouting, whistling and throwing things at the screen.
Those of us who like actually to see and hear the film learned long ago that the only way to do that was to attend the 4 p.m. showings. Afternoon audiences were smaller, and everyone there had chosen that performance precisely to avoid the evening zoo.
Alas, in its wisdom the CAB did away with the afternoon showings this year. I am but a lowly faculty member with no influence on the CAB; but if David or any other film-loving students would like to try lobbying for the return of the 4 p.m. show, perhaps it will be reinstated.
