The NIU men’s and women’s tennis teams will both be hitting the courts this weekend.

Coach Charles Merzbacher and his men’s squad head to Milwaukee to face Marquette today at 3:00. On Saturday morning the Huskies face off against the University of Illinois-Chicago before heading to Madison for a 6 p.m. meeting with the University of Wisconsin.

Mats Persson is expected to head up the Huskie line-up which includes mid-year addition Greg O’Neill, who accounted for both of NIU’s points in a 7-2 loss to 25th-ranked University of Minnesota.

Coach Patty Groth and her women’s team continue their season today at 1:00 when they host the University of Toledo at the Aurora Racquet Club. On Saturday NIU meets Marquette before returning to DeKalb Sunday for a noon showdown against Southern Illinois.

Groth hopes to improve on a 4-4 dual-meet record with her squad fresh from a successful appearance in the University of Notre Dame Eck Doubles Classic. Kathi Kennedy and Monica Larson teamed up to capture the Flight C championship with five straight victories.
