LTAs want pay
December 7, 1989
As a student employee of Founder’s Memorial Library, it has come to my attention that the NIU administration has not implemented the expected pay raises for certain full-time employees (namely, the library technical assistants).
By not granting the raises, the administration has created a demoralizing and unsatisfactory working environment.
NIU has not shown support for employees and therefore has decreased the level of job satisfaction for those deserving, and expecting, the pay raise.
NIU should recognize its outstanding employees and give them the support that is deserved.
Without the support of my library technical assistant supervisor, my job satisfaction at the library would inevitably decrease.
Obviously, it is up to those involved to rectify this situation and work on increasing the lowered level of job satisfaction of the employees.
An immediate implementation of a proper pay scale is necessary.
