Hike unneeded

We noticed in an article that appeared in the Nov. 21 issue of The Northern Star that “NIU’s Late Night Ride Service might expand to every weeknight early next (fall) semester.” Also included in the article was this service averages 75 riders per weekend. Even with a “20-percent increase,” that is still less than one percent of the student body of NIU. Why should 99 percent of the students on this campus have to pay increased student fees for a service that they don’t use?

This is a nice example how student fees seem to always increase to pacify every special interest that presents a cause on campus. Fees have increased relentlessly each semester to a point where it is getting out of hand.

ow we yearn for the days when people found solutions to their own problems and did not cry to some government body for relief.
