Funds fight cancer

The Beta Alpha Psi Gamma Pi raised $2,070 for the fight against cancer Walk-A-Thon on Oct. 14. There were 45 students, faculty and professional accountants who took part in the third annual event.

Wreath-making workshop

The DeKalb County Cooperative Extension Service is sponsoring a wreath-making workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Kishwaukee College’s Grant Building Horticulture Lab.

Individuals participating in the workshop will make and decorate a 12-inch evergreen wreath. There is a $5 fee. Call 756-6361 to reserve a space.

Recitals announced

NIU’s School of Music has announced recital dates for the remainder of November. Eric Montzka is presenting a recital at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Boutell Recital Hall.

Two recitals will be featured Thursday. Tracy Gazda will present a recital at 5:30 p.m. and Jim Barbour will be featured at 8 p.m. Both programs are in the Recital Hall.

Thursday’s Chamber Orchestra of the NIU Philharmonic has been cancelled.

Development discussed

“The Rockford Region in the ‘80s” is the focus of a public forum scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Maddox Theater of Rockford College’s Clark Arts Center, 5050 E. State St., Rockford.

The forum will look at the economic, ecducational and community development progress of the area in the 1980’s and plans for the 1990s.
