For Greek unity
November 21, 1989
As I sat in a forum for “Black Greeks on Predominately White Campuses,” I saw the ratio of blacks to whites on campus. When the graduate assistant from the University of Indiana came and spoke about attempted unity between black and white Greeks, I witnessed many contradictions in the different points that he presented.
When students on this campus, particularly white ones, made remarks concerning their individual attempts to promote unity, the black students would deny these attempts. One white woman stated that blacks have been repeatedly invited to different social events on Greek Row and elsewhere, but no one ever shows up. This comment caused a lot of angry comments and arguments from the black Greeks who claimed that they were never aware that these ‘socials’ took place. All of these contradictions need to stop in order to get the business on the table: total Greek unity.
