Pro-human start
November 21, 1989
It’s pervasive. It’s unavoidable. It’s sick. What am I talking about? I am talking about the problems on this campus revolving around the issue of racism.
Racism is an outdated word, as far as I am concerned. Blacks accuse whites of denying them equal status in society. In some areas, whites are accusing Orientals of coming in with their big bucks and hi-tech machinery and taking over our industries and communities. All of this might be true, but the term racism denies the one common factor that all races everywhere share with each other: our humanity.
I think if we stop defining these problems as racism and start defining them as anti-human, we all might see the bigger picture a little better and start respecting our fellow man (in the generic sense) more and more. Any act that seeks to deny humans the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is anti-human. Thus, not only does this include racism, but also abortion, totalitarianism, authoritarianism, and a host of other -isms.
