Homecoming events scheduled
October 1, 1989
For this year’s Homecoming Week, the Campus Activities Board has planned an extensive list of activities for all students.
“We’d like to encourage people to come out and watch,” said Steve Zarch, CAB Homecoming coordinator. Although the deadline for entries has passed, Zarch said he believes there should be a good spectator turnout.
In the past, Homecoming has been thought of as mainly a Greek event, said Zarch. However, CAB and Zarch have made a point to promote the the idea that Homecoming activites are for everyone.
Homecoming Week activities kicked-off with a midnight volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Recreation Center.
Each day at noon, except Wednesday, a band has been scheduled to play in the Martin Luther King Memorial Commons. Wednesday will be the pep rally. Head-football coach Jerry Pettibone will be on hand for it, along with the Huskie football team. All students are encouraged to wear the school colors that day.
On Monday, Big Shoulders will begin the concert series. Appearing Tuesday will be hard rockers, Red Line. On Thursday, the Cornball Allstars will take the stage. Finishing off the concert series on Friday will be musician Brian Bear.
Monday’s events will be Paint the Town and the Banner contest. Local merchants have donated their front windows for Paint the Town entrants to make displays which will be judged between noon and 6:00 p.m. The banners for the Banner contest will be displayed in the Pow Wow.
