Why do I even bother reading The Northern Star? How often have I asked myself this question! The article appearing Oct. 20 about the Feminist Front’s meeting/program “reported” a nonexistent discussion on lobbying legislators. We were speaking of Women’s Liberation at this and all of our meetings and the Star did not even mention that idea! Instead you misquoted our speakers and falsely created the content of our discussion. This is not journalism. This is garbage!

And your focus on “Rescue” in your article Oct. 19 concerning the racist violence on Greek Row is more of your same attempt to misrepresent the facts. The Star covers up and perpetuates the sexism and racism that plagues our campus and community.

I believe The Northern Star comprises the most blatant, obvious and dangerous perpetrators of unfair classist policies at NIU. Your white washing all the news might fool some people, but the real facts speak louder than you do. A movement of self-conscious and angry people is growing and will demand and bring about the serious and complete changes that will wipe out racism and sexism forever!
