Lots too far away

Well, it’s that time of year again folks. No, I don’t mean finding a Halloween costume, I mean complaining about the parking situation here at NIU. About this time of year the weather turns cold, windy and icy. I live in Lincoln Hall and the idea of parking in Lot W sends a chill up my spine. Another funny thing about that lot is that my windows get so dirty I wonder if my $32 parking permit is ever seen.

Many times I look out my window and see Lot G/E, half of it filled to capacity, and the other half sparsely populated with cars of community students. Now NIU, wouldn’t it have been easier to divide Lot 20? That would give members of residence halls a better chance to find a closer, safer parking space. We wouldn’t have to worry about our cars being jumped on (as I’ve seen last year) or slipping on the ice, becoming unconscious and not being found since not many people frequent the gravel lots. It could happen, NIU.

Maybe in a few years you’ll find it in your hearts to provide us with multi-level parking lots. And don’t worry, it won’t make DeKalb look like a big city any more than the towers or the Holmes Student Center do.
