What’s it about?
October 5, 1989
Regarding your recent homecoming special issue, I found it to be quite informative, yet lacking in one particular aspect.
I’m sure all the students on campus are familiar with the annual celebrations of homecoming; its parades, pep rallies and football games. But few, if any, know of the fundamental meaning of homecoming. How the tradition started? What it really means? And who came home?
In light of homecoming week, I feel it’s appropriate to present its geneology. Therefore, I am requesting The Northern Star “enlighten” us on the origins of homecoming.
