Racism at NIU

In response to the letter from the “naive” Maureen Keane. It is almost indecent for any student or administrative official to think that blacks on campus are going to be passive about the racial tension going on here at NIU.

Right is right, and wrong is wrong! Anyone with absolutely any moral values whatsoever would deem the act of violence upon the brother who was beaten as punishable.

In saying, “Who is Tracy Lynn Deis to be the judge to determine the lives of these men?” Whoa, hold it right there! In the same sense, who gave those five white men the prerogative to try and maim another human being? For some strange reason, I get the feeling you are either personal friends of the guys who did this or just plain lacking in good judgment!

Ms. Deis had every right to prosecute those five white men in her letter. And if they had been black, the same would hold true (they should be put up under the jail).

Look, don’t make assumptions as to whether or not Ms. Deis is a racist. (Turning the tables won’t help!) Besides, we all know what happens when one ASSUMES!

As far as attempted murder goes, any pea-brained person could determine that whenever a gang of people (regardless of color) jump on any one person, they are out to kill!

Ms. Deis and any other student (black or otherwise), has every right to label this situation as racist regardless of who doesn’t, for the simple reason, it’s as obvious as hell, point blank! If (and I said if) this were the 50s or 60s, there would be no question that this incident was indeed a racial one. Mind you, times have changed, not attitudes.

Accept it, there is a rising tide of racism all over the country, so let’s all stop trying to sugar-coat the situation. Racism is at NIU!!
