Withdrawal information

Today is the last day to withdraw from NIU as a full or part time student and receive a partial tuition refund.

NIU deadlines for fall

Sept. 29 is the last day for students to pay graduation fees for a December graduation.

Oct. 6 is the last day for undergraduates to withdraw from NIU or from a course. It also is the last day to change a class from regular to pass/fail, resolve NR grades from a summer session course and to sign up to repeat a course from the summer session.

Sexual assault seminar

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., has scheduled a sexual assult, rape education and prevention seminar from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday in Lincoln Hall B Cafeteria.

The seminar will be conducted by members of the Chicago Police Department. They will define legal ramifications of sexual assault and rape, along with psychological counseling.

Women’s discussions

Discovering women students’ concerns is the focus of two open discussion sessions during Unity in Diversity Week. The first session will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Regency Room of the Holmes Student Center.

The second session will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday in the HSC Illinois Room. The topic will cover what the campus climate is like for NIU women students and what could be changed to make NIU better for them.

Musical performances

“An Evening of Harnick and Bock” will take place at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Recital Hall of the School of Music. This performance is free and all are invited.

The faculty recital of Paul Bauer, trombone, has been moved to Oct. 16. The recital will begin at 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall.

Art work featured

“Helios Trail,” a 40 foot tall steel fabrication, will be unveiled Friday at Wayne State University’s College of Engineering in Detroit.

NIU art school professor Bruce White, who sculpted the piece, said it was named with the idea of the sun god lighting the sky, creating a trail of light.
