This is in response to the scalding rebuttal of Peter Mills in the Sept. 22, Northern Star. He responded to the Bob McBob cartoon strip in which Eric Dietz made an offhand satire on the abortion issue. (Bob, an average college student, debates with a pro-choicer.)

Mills said, “I can safely say that no thinking person on this campus that read this ‘comic strip’ thought it was unoffensive, much less funny.”

Now, Petie old buddy, I talked with several people about this strip and the majority thought it was very humorous. I personally laughed about it, not because of the issue of abortion, but because of the different light in which it is cast. That my friend is humor, and I believe that is how it was meant to be seen.

I think it takes some courage on the part of a cartoonist to attack a controversial issue. Keep up the good work Eric. Give’m hell. And Pete, lighten up you’ll live longer.
