Fall softball is underway for the NIU contingent this weekend.

Head softball coach Dee Abrahamson and her team will play host to the Huskie Invitational tourney, which will be played on both Saturday (Sept. 16) and Sunday (Sept. 17) at Huskie Diamond.

NIU plays in the tournament’s first game against Illinois State at noon on Saturday. The Huskies will not have much time to rest because they play the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at 2:00 p.m. ISU and Wisconsin-Parkside face each other in the 4:00 match to end the day.

On Sunday, ISU and Wisconsin-Parkside wake up early to play in the 10 a.m. game followed by the match between NIU and Illinois State. The Huskies square up against Wisconsin-Parkside in the final game of the tournament at 2 p.m.

The NIU softball team said good-bye to six seniors last spring, however, six freshmen give the Huskies a new youthful appearance.
