Major milestone
September 26, 1989
The 1989 Huskie football season will mark my 24th year following the Huskies and Sept. 9 marked a major milestone for me. As a resident of the very near north side of Chicago and prior to that a south suburban resident, Sept. 9 was the very first time I was able to sit in my own home, in a comfortable chair, tune in WAIT radio and listen to a Huskie football game in a clear, audible signal. This might not seem like a big deal to local DeKalb residents, but this is a major breakthrough for all of the fans in Chicago. A big thank you to Mary Mihalich for putting the first really viable radio network together. It is a very significant step.
