Beware of Huskie posters

The results of NIU’s three-year promotions package with Coors Light can now be seen in store windows and on counters throughout DeKalb.
NIU’s new Coors Light football poster, the first of several promotional items produced in conjuction with the beer company, pictures Huskie fullback Adam Dach bursting through the line and the slogan: “Beware of the Huskies.”
Mary Mihelich, assistant athletic director of promotions and marketing, said Monday the promotions deal went through without a hitch. About 6,000 of the football posters have been made, along with 2,500 volleyball posters. In addition, 4,500 men’s basketball and 3,000 women’s basketball posters are on the way.
The three-year pact, which was signed in the spring, also includes the production of thousands of pocket schedules and countercards for the four “Level I” NIU sports. Mihelich said the production of the items will cost Coors Light about $75,000 over the three years.
Mihelich also announced that several nationally known mascots and acrobatic groups will perform at NIU basketball games this fall. The San Diego Chicken (Nov. 30), the Phoenix Sun Gorilla (Dec. 5), the Jesse White Tumblers (Dec. 3, Jan. 25) and the Bud Light Daredevils (Dec. 5) are scheduled to make appearances at Chick Evans Field House.
