Despite the scheduled Aug. 8 departure of Jon Dalton, NIU vice president for student affairs, an interim vice president has not been selected.

Ken Beasley, assistant to NIU President John La Tourette, said La Tourette is meeting with division directors in the student affairs office to hear their opinions on candidates for the interim position. NIU will conduct a search for a permanent vice president for student affairs this fall, Beasley said.

Dalton has accepted a position at Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he will head the student affairs division. His duties will include allocating a $17 million budget and overlooking the FSU student center, student orientation program, international student services and several bond revenue operations.
