Little confidence
April 27, 1989
I would like to say a few words about Jeans Day. I think the most blatant statement made is by those who worry so much about being labeled that they go out of their way not to wear jeans. What this shows is a lack of confidence in one’s individuality. The GLU doesn’t post guards to write down the names of the unrecruited. In fact, I think that this day isn’t half as important to them as it is for the ones who keep looking over their shoulders, hoping their friends doen’t see them in jeans. Why is it so important to conform to the point of changing the way you look? If a group had a day when their symbol was to wear clothes, would you go naked? People are people, and that’s how they should be judged. Not by their private lives, and certainly not for their clothes.
