A life overlooked

Abortion is a very controversial issue. Those who defend abortion tend to look at pro-lifers as not giving each woman a choice. The one thing that many people conveniently overlook is the individual life of the baby. What we, as pro-lifers, are fighting for is the silent majority, the life that is not yet able to speak for itself. While defending abortion, people also tend to imply that those who are on the pro-life side are not thinking of the woman. If these people who scream “pro-choice” could just open their eyes, they would find that we are very concerned about the mother. A woman who has an abortion goes through very tremendous physical and emotional trauma. The side effects can occur directly after the abortion, but it is common for the psychological trauma to hit the woman five to 10 years afterwards. For the baby these side effects will last forever. Abortion is a terrible experience for both the mother and the child.
We are not trying to make decisions for any woman, but abortion does not just affect her, there is the precious life of a baby at stake. Everyone has the right to make choices, but not when that choice hurts an innocent, defenseless victim. There is also another right, mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are LIFE, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
