‘Love it or leave it’

When I drive to DeKalb from Chicago, I keep seeing signs that say “Illinois Research and Development Corridor.” And I look around and all I see is a bunch of farms! Then, when I get near to DeKalb, there is big sign that says “NIU students use the exit that costs 15 cents more.”

At this school, we have escalators that don’t work, and they go and spend our money on art work that I don’t understand. You go to the computer lab and the system E tells you take a number please and stare at the tube.

In my major of computer science they GIVE you the algorithms for the programming assignments. Then they don’t care too much if your program RUNS but they haggle you to death about the documentation. And THEN they say, “If you don’t like it then go someplace else.” That is like how they used to say “love it or leave it,” not so long ago.

I pay good money to go to this school. We ALL pay good money to go to this school. I have been here for two years and I have never even SEEN the legendary LaTourette. How do I know if he even exists? All I see is that same photo of him in your paper. And by the way, last time I wrote you butchered my letter. It wasn’t that lengthy, nor is this, so try not to murder it, OK?
