Outrageous Music Festival to begin
Espacio Cinco presents the 11-piece jazz band Either/Orchestra Tuesday at 8:30 p.m at 1021 E. State St. The band will begin the Outrageous Music Festival. Tickets are $3 at the door. For more information, call 756-8290.
umorist to attend dinner program
Joan Johanson, a humorist described as “Iowa’s Erma Bombeck,” will appear at a dinner program at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Johanson was the winner of the Toastmasters International Humorous Speech Contest in 1979. To register, call 756-6361.
First aid review class offered
A standard first aid review course is being offered by the Fox River Chapter of the American Red Cross. The first session is Wednesday, followed by a second class on April 12.
Classes will be held at the chapter office, 1250 South St., Geneva, Ill. There is a $20 fee. To register, call (312) 513-1117.
Director named to committee
Ruth Parvin, director of NIU’s psychological services clinic, has been named to the executive committee of the national Association of Directors of Psychology Training Clinics. Parvin has been at NIU since 1987.
Parvin’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology from the University of Arkansas, a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, and a law degree and a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska.
