To NIU President John LaTourette:

I phoned your office today to let you know that I support the decision made by Athletic Director Gerald O’Dell regarding the non-renewal of Jim Rosborough’s contract. I am sure this was not an easy decision. However, every decision thus far made by Gerald O’Dell appears to have been done for the overall improvement and strength of university athletics. I like his vision of the future.

There have been four or five other “big name” coaches recently “not renewed” at other universities with no apparent controversy.

It may be more fashionable to complain about a decision, but I support the fact that a difficult decision has been made by someone who knows all the facts. The end result is this: I believe in Gerald O’Dell and what he is going to do for NIU athletics.
