Income tax program dissolves
January 25, 1989
Plans for a Student Accounting Society-sponsored income tax assistance program dissolved after it was discovered that the date for a qualifying exam that the volunteers should have taken passed unnoticed in December.
SAS President Christine Smith said it is likely her group will initiate a similar program next year.
In other student organization news, Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honors society, will offer free business assistance this semester to area merchants and organizations. Organization President Mark Kramer said his group will be working on “setting up internal controls to secure (business) assets.”
Kramer said three or four organizations will participate in the program. The first to use the service will be the Wesley Foundation, a non-profit church group, he said.
