No leads to Church’s locale

There are no concrete leads into the investigation of an NIU student who allegedly murdered his former girlfriend’s parents and wounded her and her younger brother last August.

The suspect, Richard Church, 19, Woodstock, Ill., has been a fugitive since the the time of the slayings.

“The investigation is still going along. We’re following up on leads, but (there is) nothing concrete as of yet,” said Sgt. Randy Beu, assistant to the chief of the Woodstock Police Department.

Beu said the investigation has spread throughout the country while leads are being followed by local police agencies and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

FBI agent Tom Wronski said the search has continued with no major developments since Church’s truck was found in West Hollywood, Calif. in September.

Killed in the Aug. 21 incident were Raymond Ritter, 43, and Ritter’s wife Ruthanne, 45. Church’s 17-year-old girlfriend, Colleen, and her brother Matthew, 11, were injured in the attack also.

Church, identified by the two children, is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of home invasion.

Church’s girlfriend reportedly broke off the relationship with him upon her parents’ encouragement.
