Political victors take oaths
December 2, 1988
Victorious politicians from November’s elections were sworn in to office yesterday at the DeKalb County Courthouse.
Newly elected Judge Phil DiMarzio, State’s Attorney Mike Coghlan, Circuit Clerk Maureen Josh and Coroner Dennis Miller pledged to uphold their respective offices before Judges Rex Meilinger, Richard Larson and Douglas Engel.
The county representatives will serve DeKalb County, but DiMarzio has been assigned to a bench in Kane County.
DiMarzio, who served as state’s attorney in DeKalb County before winning his judge’s seat, will serve in Kane County because a seat in DeKalb County was not feasible due to his work on legal matters here.
Coroner’s assistants also were sworn in during the ceremony.
