Committee to discuss parking lot‘ futures

The Campus Parking Committee, an advisory committee to William Harder, vice president for business and operations, will meet today to continue discussions about the usage of lot 20, located east of the Chick Evans Field House, and lot 38, located east of Gabel Hall.

The committee is scheduled to meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, room 306.

Parking Committee Chairman Robert Bornhuetter said both of the lots are not “well used” and the committee will be evaluating their current usage. Lot 38 was opened about two weeks ago and Bornhuetter said the committee is expecting a usage report on the lot.

Parking Division Manager Lynn Fraser said the committee might decide to “allocate” the lots so that people with permits other than blue and green will be able to park in the lots and utilize the available space. Faculty, staff and graduate assistants are allowed to park in the lots.

Other business tentatively includes discussion of whether to close open parking in lot 2, south of Anderson Hall, to make blue permit lots active on a 24-hour basis and budget reviews.
