I am encouraging you to support Jerry Shapiro for DeKalb County state’s attorney in the Nov. 8 election.

Shapiro deserves the support from all of us. He has worked tirelessly for the goal of the community.

He has served on the county board and has been chairman of the finance committee at which he has excelled. He has sponsored much needed consumer orientated legislation, including the county’s smoke dectector ordinance and the public health regulations by which substandard housing has been improved.

Shapiro has been committed to the due process system throughout his life. In the early 1970s, when a student at NIU, he worked hard for the successful development of the Students’ Legal Assistance office, by which persons not otherwise able to procure legal assistance were assisted. In addition, he actively supported NIU’s efforts to procure the College of Law, for which we all can be very proud.

Shapiro is committed to this community and its people. Please vote for Shapiro for state’s attorney.
