Platform: Josh (incumbent) said that she is the “qualified” candidate for the office. She said the past four years in office have earned her the knowledge and respect she needs to continue running the office.
“I don’t feel anyone is as qualified as I am to serve as DeKalb (County) Circuit Clerk,” Josh said.
She said at one point of her term she made the surroundings of her office in the DeKalb County Courthouse functional while the courthouse was being renovated.
The record and the filing systems were refined during her term, including the development of a color-coated filing system, Josh said.
A more up-to-date microfilm system also was implemented during Josh’s term, she said. Long-term plans for automation improvements on the office’s computer system have been developed, Josh said.
More than 17,000 legal cases are processed per year by the circuit clerk’s office, she said.
Josh said she wants to run the election on her merits and issues based on her term in office. “We manage records here and I don’t see the need to campaign for anything more,” she said. “Never in three elections have I said a negative word about my opponents.”
Background: Josh said she was a school teacher for four years, three in Milwaukee, Wisc. and one in Creston, Ill. From 1980 to 1984 she said she raised a family.
Josh said she ran in the March 1984 primary for circuit court and beat two men capturing 71 percent of the vote.
