Ed Diedrich, democrat

Platform:Diedrich said he is committed to keeping DeKalb Conty a safe place to live. He said his commitment to serving the law will help him punish drug dealers to the fullest extent. Diedrich said that DeKalb County will not be a safe haven for drug traffickers.

Diedrich says he is also committed to the enforcement of criminal and civil law within the frameworks of the Illinois and United States Constitutions. “I want to be the best judge that DeKalb County has ever had. I want to be real tough on real crime,” Diedrich said.

Background: Diedrich has practiced law at the local, state and federal levels. He said his experiences at NIU during the 1960s, when he was a struggling young lawyer, have led him to believe that law can be put to the test during times of social change.

Diedrich received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law, Chicago, in 1959. He was appointed DeKalb City Attorney in 1962 and 1963. He also has taught law classes at NIU. Diedrich now manages his own legal practice in DeKalb.
