Lack of knowledge
October 18, 1988
In response to the Oct. 10 column by Jeff Vogelsang, I must say that I am stunned by his lack of knowledge and understanding of civil rights issues. Granted, I am not a minority, however I can tell the difference between someone who is born into a minority, and someone who makes a conscience decision to become one.
I do not advocate discrimination by any means, but I don’t believe that gays should be given special laws written for them. If someone wants to do something that is so unnatural and repulsive they must learn to deal with the side effects. If I drive a car with a blindfold on I must accept that I will hit something. When gays “mate” with someone of the same sex, they must realize that they will also get discriminated against.
As for Mr. Vogelsang’s comments about ‘bible waving radicals,’ it doesn’t necessarily take a bible to know when something is wrong, it takes a brain.
