Get the facts first

If you had looked around more carefully Mr. Marxx before writing your “Black Greek Apathy” letter printed in the Sept. 22 Northern Star, you would have noticed that there were black greeks at the rally. Black greeks do not always wear their letters which identifies them as being greek. When was the last time you were at a Black Greek Council and we practiced our steps? Everyone knows we practice before the council meetings!

You also quickly pointed out how eager we are to make a quick buck, who doesn’t want to make money? Wake up Mr. Marxx. Parties are just some of the events held by the greeks. I suggest that you do some background work before making half-truthful, unfound accusations.

As far as the Ms. Palmer issue is concerned, I also suggest that before you offer your opinion you should have all the facts. Without all the facts your conclusion is definitely biased because it lacks the answers to all of the key questions. So with this in mind, do a little research to find out how the black greeks feel as a part of your fact-finding process. Once this is done, a conclusion or opinion can be reached, and even if I don’t agree with your opinion, I can at least respect you because you have weighed all of the pertinent information.

Discrimination is something that cannot be avoided in today’s society. Admittingly it is not as bad as it was in the past, but I know that there are still efforts and steps which have yet to be taken. So I ask you, Mr. Marxx, is it not apparent that discriminations exist? You seem to be against discrimination, but are you not being hypocritical yourself generalizing that black greeks only have parties and step practice during Black Greek Council?

It is clear that you need more background information. Thus, I extend a personal invitation to a smoker. I’m sure you know what a smoker is since you know so much about BLACK GREEKS!!!

I hope you have heard what I have said and next time you will have some foundation behind your statements. However, if you chose not to, then that only shows your lack of credibility.
